Essential fishing tools.

Hi everyone.

Welcome back to my new sporting blog, Inshore Saltwater Angler.

Today I wanted to talk about what I think are some of the most essential fishing tools to have, and my personal recommendations in each category.  Now these are just my favourites, so some of you may have other things you prefer.  If you do, please let me know in the comments below as I’d love to try some other equipment out!

  1. Fishing Line.

Probably one of the most important parts to get right.  Different fishing lines will attract different fish, so I like to have a couple of different lines with me.  You can choose between monofilament, braided, wired etc.

I like the KastKing Durablend Monofilament leader line best.

  2. Fishing Pliers

Don’t even bother with regular ones, go straight for the saltwater ones.  Saltwater fishing pliers are made out of stainless steel or titanium which stops them rusting, and makes them the ideal type to go for.

I like the BITE Professional Aluminium Saltwater Fishing Pliers best.

  3. Fishing Rod

Similarly to choosing a fishing line, each fishing rod will attract different fishes.
A longer fishing rod will be able to cast further but makes drawing the fish in when it’s caught a lot harder.

I like the Shakespeare two piece ugly stik bigwater Spinning Rod.

  4. Fishing Landing net

Different landing nets will be better for different sizes and shapes of fish.  It’s important to pay attention to the size of the net as well as the size of the mesh netting.  One with a strong handle is best.

I like the Madbite fishing net safe catch and release fish landing net.

So there we go 4 of the most essential fishing equipment and my favourite of each one.  Are there any different ones you’d recommend?

Thanks,

Robert.
